Villa Kogelhof

Back to overview

A modern design that surpasses all expectations in terms of sustainability and living comfort—that was the challenge we took on with Villa Kogelhof. We wanted to design a villa that embraces its ecological surroundings. At the same time, we wanted to create a bright and comfortable living environment for the residents.

Pushing boundaries and thinking ahead

We devised new methods to allow the villa to be completely self-sufficient in energy. The villa had to thrive in independence. Therefore, the all-glass facade not only creates a bright and modern living environment, but also a smart climate facade that regulates the villa's climate with an innovative ventilation system. The 280 m² of solar panels on the roof provide the house with so much energy that a surplus is created, which is used to charge cars or, in the future, will be stored in batteries such as the Tesla Powerpack. We believe that with the right innovations, you can utilize any natural resource to create a sustainable and comfortable home. Living independently of any energy supplier is possible. With our own design of cooling systems, a water roof that illuminates the underground level with sunlight, and the clever (re)use of sun and wind, we show you that the seemingly impossible is possible.

Futuristic Living

Before we began building the villa, we transformed the traditional landscape into an ecological nature reserve. On the former agricultural fields, we planted 70,000 trees and designed a large pond for migratory birds. Transparency was our key word. The villa consists of two levels: the above-ground glass living level and the sunken level where you'll find the entrance. In the light that shines through the water roof, you'll find the garage and, a little further on, the unlit technical room. As you walk through to the stairwell, you enter a spacious office where a wide window overlooks the private land and the pond. On the upper floor, you're embraced by the surrounding nature and can see out over the 25-hectare estate and the high-tech Delta Works on the horizon. We wanted to reflect this unique combination of landscape and modern technology in the sleek and light design of the living space, ensuring that the sustainable innovations don't detract from the living experience. On the living floor we give free rein to sunlight by placing as few walls and obstacles as possible.
